Dex Hayes is quickly becoming one of the most well known names in the Midwest underground hip-hop scene. As an M.C., producer and mix engineer, Dex has worked with a wide variety of unsigned artist in the area.
A co-host of the Lokal Vokalz hip-hop block on local radio station 89.5fm, Dex’s music enjoys regular airplay in the area. This also gave him the opportunity to perform his music live, both on the radio and at shows in local venues.
No stranger to the stage, Dex was a DJ/MC in strip clubs for 6 years before getting a “big boy” job as an Audio Visual engineer at a local University.
“I never feel more alive than I do onstage, with a mic in my hand and a spotlight in my face… there is nothing like it.”
Dex is also showing his skills behind the mixing board running Lab 99 Recordings, a studio he started with a high school friend.
Lab 99’s projects include albums for Omega, Elluminatti, Stevie Stone, Taylor Marie and many more.
Currently, Dex is working on his debut album, “Naked Beats… seriously underground” which is set for release Spring of 2006,. Dex’s lead single “My Skeelo” featuring Stevie Stone, can be heard both on 89.5fm, as well as multiple websites online.
