Thea Wray
the musician, the songwriter, the teacher, the storyteller…….………………

Thea Wray, a classically trained pianist, has played Jazz, Reggae, Pop, R & B and folk music both as a solo artist and as part of a group during her musical career which goes back some 25 years.

She uses these genres to express her devotion and love for God and to further the gospel of Jesus Christ His Son. Her record label Water II Wine Praise released her full length album ‘noboundariesnobordersnolimits’ in March 2003 which has received critical acclaim. Thea ministers in music where invited for the Kingdom Of God.

British born, of Jamaican parentage, Thea continues to write, arrange and produce, adding to a large and diverse portfolio of original material spanning the genres of contemporary Gospel music , Jazz, Folk, Soul, and Reggae.

Thea is a vocal and piano tutor and works on both a one on one basis as well as with groups. She also teaches in primary schools on South London and leads primary school assemblies as a representative of Spinnaker Trust a Christian charity based in London,

Thea is a storyteller who weaves the stories of the Caribbean and Africa with the context of the European Experience and sets them in a musical collage for children and adults alike.

Through WATER II WINE MINISTRIES Thea and her partners seek to raise up, equip and mentor young musicians and to encourage the release and promotion of their original music.
Why this name?
Thea is short for Althea which is my real Christian name.
Do you play live?
Yes. I regular play (every Sunday) at my local church Rye Lane Chapel which is located in Peckham, South London, England. My role has expanded over the years to include the responsiblities of Musical Director for the church so come along and join us some time.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has already made it alot more easier for Independent artistes to receive wider recognition. I have to say though that without additional technical support from those who actually know their way around the internet and have the time, the promotion side would still suffer! Thanks to Berto our ministry has kept up to date with the industry trends.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes - if the terms are right of course I would.
