An emcee, a publicist, a self promoter, a booking agent, a movie producer, an author, a father, a publicist, a visionary. This is the many faces of the man that come to be known the hardest working man in hip hop to never be signed.

From Compton, Ca, Quanstar was originally exposed to hip hop at the age of 7 with his first cassette tape, “Radio” by LL Cool J, and instantly became a certified head. Seven years later he began honing his skills battling everyone
and anyone who thought they were an emcee.

Quanstar is a trip to the early ‘90’s, the Golden Age of Hip Hop. He paints vivid
pictures with conscious, heartfelt lyrics which is a feat that few can achieve in the current hip hop arena that is now saturated with ”bling and booty”. Quanstar’s approach is to bring hip hop back to where it used to be...about the people.
Why this name?
My middle name is Quan
Do you play live?
I play all over the country. In 2005 I began touring under "The Bring Your 'A' Game Series". Since then I've had 6 national tours and over 200 dates in 3 years all booked by myself. I've also been blessed to play with a lot of great acts like Black Sheep, Akil of Jurassic, Hieroglyphics, KRS One, One Be Lo, Kamikaze, Blue Print, Kaze, The Justus League, and more.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives the little guy a chance. Independent artists and companies are small businesses looking for are niche before we get swallowed up by the machine. I am fortunate enough to have found my niche, before the Machine came for me
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Nope. I have bigger fish to catch. It only starts with the music. I just released a film entitled "Do It!: A Documentary". You can see the trailer on my page.
