Hey, my name is Zac James, and I am a songwriter/musician. I have a love for Jesus Christ, and I love to write of what I know.
Why this name?
Heh. You can tell this is an automated question.
Do you play live?
I lead worship at Spring Hills Baptist Church for the high school Sunday School and at Granville Christian Academy, also in Granville. (That would make sense :P). I absolutely love it, and the most special moments happen for me when I'm not looking for them. Y'know, when you're not expecting anything to happen, and BAM- God is there. And that's when it hits you- this is AWESOME.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes it by making music available to anyone with an internet connection. This becomes a boon to the consumer and a potential nightmare to the record labels if not effectively managed. However, it is much more of a boon than a nightmare, because word spreads much quicker.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it was God's will, yes.
Band History:
I led a band called "Through the Flames" from March of '05 to September of '05. I am currently leading worship for the aforementioned events.
Your influences?
Jars of Clay, definitely. A variety of Christian artists, including Matt Redman, Hillsong United (Hillsong's awesome youth group/band), FM Static, Tree63, Third Day, Petra, Delirious?, and Josh Baker. Oh yeah, and our youth band here at SHBC.
Favorite spot?
Outside of Granville, Roanoke, VA. Awesome, awesome people.
Equipment used:
Breedlove AD-25 SR Plus guitar, Jackson electric guitar, Elixir strings, Jim Dunlop picks,
Anything else...?
Instruments I play:
Piano (9 years)
Drums (5 years)
Acoustic/electric/bass guitar (2 year, but more practice time than that would show)
Bongos/Auxillary Drums (as long as I have beat on the kitchen counter to music)
My goal for these songs that I write is this to get you to ask questions, because when we ask questions, we go deeper into our very being and discover exactly who we are. I don't write songs necessarily from a Christ-only perspective, but I try to write things as I see them, from the human perspective as well. I pray that in some small way, you will be able to relate to what I write.
