We're a young jazz funk jamband from New York. Our sound is heavily influenced both by the standard jamrock roots and by instrumental funk and acid jazz. The resulting sound has turned out to be pretty unique and we're currently wielding our newfound power to blow the doors off of local clubs and bars!
Why this name?
We actually used to be called the Whalers, but it got too confusing because of the Bob Marley Wailers, so we woodsheded name ideas for a week or so, and ironically came up with...The Woodshed.
Do you play live?
We're a live band, it's what we do. We love playing for good crowds, and every show seems to have a few special moments.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it really easy to gain massive distribution of your music, but it also means that your going up against litterally every one else out there with a computer and a guitar, so you still need to work very hard to make yourself stand out. The game is still the same, but the field has changed a bit.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if the right deal came along...
Your influences?
Phish, Grateful Dead, Soulive, ulu
