Just me, on the mandolin- and a few tracks with a guitar, as well. In my real life, I'm a professor of Cultural Anthropology at the College of William & Mary.

How these things relate to one another is a vast mystery.
Why this name?
Didn't really have much of a choice... Though I also play with my buddies as Too Many Mandolins (2 mandos, and a guitar)
Do you play live?
Only at the Carrboro Music Festival in 2006, then 2007. Loved it!! And would love to play more such events/gigs. (Just ask!)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Hey, you've just read this online, and you MIGHT listen, so that's changed the music industry from where I'm sitting!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As soon as I finish laughing at thie idea of being offered a major label contract! Or being offered an Independent label contract - or pocket change - or a kind word...
Band History:
I've been playing mandolin since September 2002, when I hit the ripe old age of 40. I'd be delighted to hear your comments, criticisms, or anything you'd like to convey.
Your influences?
I could tell you my influences, but I'd raise very misleading expectations! I play some swing, some samba, lots of choro.
Favorite spot?
Huge fan of Chicago, where I went to grad school through the 80's; I'm quite fond of Chapel Hill/ Carrboro where I live now, too.
Equipment used:
I play a beautiful Phoenix Europa Neoclassical Mandolin built by Rolfe Gerhardt in mid-2005. I just had a super cool A5 built by Andrew Mowry, too- finished on Valentine's Day 2007. And recently acquired a top-notch 1920 Gibson A4. I back myself up with an Ibanez Artcore guitar (now sold), or my newish D'Angelico EXL on occasion.

And I record Garageband files on my MacBook, or use a Zoom H2
