Fall of Byzantium is:
This is an electronic style of poppy music, with a light rock n roll ethic. The idea is that music doesn't always have to have a deep message. Sometimes it's just fun to play upbeat music and listen to nonsensical little stories.
And shake yo bootay.
- The Man: Brigham Toskin
- The Digital Synth Ninja: Ryu Hayabusa
- Where creativity and fun collide
- Damn Skippy!

Why this name?
This is actually a somewhat obscure historical reference, and indirectly a They Might Be Giants reference. The fall of the Byzantine Empire, under the rule of Constatine IX, was finalized by the taking of the capitol, Constantinople, which was then renamed (you got it) Istanbul by the conquering Turks.
Do you play live?
maybe soon...?
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It really opens things up for the little guy. The unsigned garage bands. The DIY ethic. It basically gives anyone with skill and time the abillity to compete with Brittney Spears or any such insipid drivel which is pushed down our throats by the multi-billion dollar media conglomerates.
And I think that's rad.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It'd depend on the label, and the terms. If I thought it would be consistent with my creative vision and help me to support myself while putting my whole effort into music and getting wide distribution, then yes I would.
One stipulation would be that I could continue to distribute mp3s of my songs, to some extent.

Your influences?
Main musical influences are They Might Be Giants, and Self. Fall of Byzantium been compared fovorably with TMBG, Atom & His Package, Postal Service, Devo, and many japanese style pop groups.
