How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
One no longer needs a record label to bring their music to the masses. There are a lot of
outstanding unsigned artist out there that are enjoying success without the heavy contractual
obligations of a record deal. I think it will force the record companies to look more at a grass roots
level in signing artist. Also, good indie success will mean better bargaining for the artist when
a record company approaches them. I mean if a band is really successful independant of a label
and they have a good sense of the business, they aren't going to likely receive the typical new artist deal which heavily favors the record company
