Pocketsize are a three-piece 'alt-punk' band from Darlington, North-East England. Line-up:

Thom Faulkner - Bass, Vocals
Jon Crawford - Guitar, Vocals
Tom Howard - Drums
Why this name?
The day of our first gig we still didn't have a name. Our bass player Thom produced a tiny can of Vaseline from his jeans, on it were the words 'Pocket Size'. Hey presto.
Do you play live?
Mostly, like all Darlo bands, our gigs have been at the Tap & Spile, its kind of a shithole but man it feels like home.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think its completely f**king it up when people can download entire albums without paying a penny. I'm all for downloading 2 or 3 songs to find out whether you'll like a band though. A perfect compromise would be if you could limit the amount of songs by a certain band that one person can download, but i dont know if thats possible.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not if they were going to turn us into Nsync but if the right deal came up, definitely.
Band History:
Jon and Tom had been playing punk covers for a good couple of years before realising it was actually quite easy to write your own songs and still sound a bit like Green Day. So we duly wrote some, and played one gig (supporting Solanoid under the name FNM) before bass player Pete decided to leave to pursue a career on the stage.

We'd known Thom Faulkner as the cool older kid in school, before realising he has the same mental age as us. He'd played in bands such as Retaxus and the legendary No Beef Pedro, and he was more than willing to provide the missing low frequencies. Many names (such as Rich By Noon, Idiot Box and Azwethinkweiz - note the Incubus connection) were rejected before those lovely people at Vaseline inadvertently gave us 'Pocketsize'. We got together to write some songs and our first gig was at the Carmel Battle of the Bands in January, where we came 3rd despite being (almost) the lamest band there. We got better though and now we'd like to think we're actually quite good. Thanks for reading :D
Your influences?
Between us our influences are pretty varied, here's a vague list from the top of my head: Foo Fighters, Hundred Reasons, Jimmy Eat World, Incubus, Jetplane Landing, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, RHCP, Rival Schools, Fugazi, Bad Religion, Green Day, Pixies.
Equipment used:
Fender guitars & basses, Marshall guitar amp, Laney bass amp, Pearl drums, Sabian cymbals, Sennheiser mics, Dunlop picks.
Anything else...?
