Abandon Grace is a new incarnation of Detachment. We were, at one time, a pure death-metal band and have since become quite experimental in genre. We're hoping to eventually obliterate any genre barriers and create something entirely new, not even based off of metal.
Currently posted in our music section are our old Detachment songs from the album "Suspended in Stone". Enjoy what you will, appreciate the talent, but don't expect our next efforts to go this particular direction.

Why this name?
It's from a personal belief that you can suspend the influence of beauty to gain a more authentic experience in everything one does. Part of the belief is that beauty is advocate to darker deeds.
Do you play live?
We used to, and often. We won't for quite some time now, though. Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Clinton... all in Iowa.
The Canton Rock fest was momentous in that we played for a crowd of over 2000. It was a wonderful experience.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It frees people to explore music in different and more diverse ways. People will find new elements to music they couldn't before because of restrictive formats. Now we can share, explore, recommend, try out, and expose new music everywhere. It's a creative and expressive boutique ready to be picked by everyone.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It's possible, but it's not our goal. Our goal is for our on pure self-expression without (and we'll truly try this) and other external motivations.

Your influences?
All and none. We're hoping that no true influence shines through our music in itself. However, we've enjoyed many artists and groups from many genres. From Mozart to Morbid Angel to Prince to Madonna to Pat Metheney to Little Texas to Enya to... you get the point.
Favorite spot?
Tampa, Florida!
