Black Mudd is a collective of 3 underground NJ artist Baby Ra, Salaam and Kamal (Kamau Amen).
They each have different creative flows and hip hop styles and blend together with a true school hip hop synergy and energy.
They are real hip hop in the sense of being creative and coming from the heart and soul with that natural creativity.
They have performed with many great hip hop, reggae, spoken word and soul artist on the east coast and Kamal is a poet in his own right.

Why this name?
In the Holy Quran it states that man was made from Black Mud.
Do you play live?
Yes, we currently play on the east coat underground and college circuit.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps us get beyond the politics of the mainstream industry so that you can hear the realness of hip hop and soul.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes under certain terms.

Collectively we are a new unit that is about to take off. Individually, we all have extensive bios that express our experiences working with the likes of Das Effects, King Sun, Today (Teddy Riley), Buju and much more.
