The Soundclick Interview

Why this name?
The name of the project has changed into "Barking At The Aunts". Before i was publishing under the 'name' YAOMB - meaning: "Yet Another One Man Band" and that's what i am.. Not the classic one-man-band you'll see on the street but a one-man (with guest musicians) project. Since my daughters Judith & Mirjam are now contributing regularly i've changed the project's name..

I'm also the 'producer' and recording engineer for Judith & Mirjam these days.. :) And recording & producing their music is what i come to love doing most!
Do you play live?
I play in Church, almost every sunday. Sometimes my daugthers Judith (Keyboards) and Mirjam (Drums, guitar) play alongside.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet and digital music formats have changed the music industry the last decade and it's a great feeling to be part of this historical change.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I publish my songs trough SoundClick and Bandcamp (where you can download my music for a modest fee). I don't need no major label to get my music out! To buy my albums go to my website at BandCamp: http://barkingaunts.bandcamp.com.
Band History:
When i was sixteen years old i learned how to play guitar from a teacher at school. He taught us the basic chords and some songs (CCR, U2, and others) in a 20-week course. After that, i learned some other stuff from books and other guitar-players. Have been in a bedroom-band (never got on stage with that) with some friends, joined an acoustic band playing in church and after that stopped performing for years.

Around 2002 i started recording music using my computer. I had been writing some songs and thought it might be fun recording them. At first they were published on mp3.com and IUMA. After some time i moved them to SoundClick (in 2003).
Your influences?
Larry Norman, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, U2, The Cure, Kansas, Ressurection Band, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Norman Barrat, Johny Cash, and many, many others...
