Check, Check......My name is backtrak...I am a new solo artist coming from a town called Akron in Ohio. Dance music is my life and my ultimate skill. Listeners may find that my tracks are upbeat, at times haunting or flavorful, or just plain "cruise in the whip and listen-music"
Why this name?
Whenever I concieve a melody, and then add drums and strings and bass and ambient noise, I gotta "backtrack" to make sure that my vision for the song is parallel to what comes out of the speakerboxx
Do you play live?
Since i'm relatively unknown, I have not yet been able to find a suitible outlet to put my vision out through live performances
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet helps and hurts us artists. it is important for us to always realize that, like me, new artists are in the making constantly, and music-based sites like this make the search for listeners that much easier, but at the same time, illegal download sites that attract piraters discourage some artists from being able to market their songs and benefit from the marketing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Oh... that is a dream that many independent artists have every night, but to answer the question...yes i would someday hope to sign with a labe that would encourage my vision. But in all honesty, if I could simply fill my message board with listeners who said that they couldn't stop listening to what i put out, it would feel equally good as if i had been signed
Band History:
I really don't have any history, as i am about as new as anyone can imagine
Your influences?
I love Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, N.E.R.D, U2, and all forms of Rap.
I also credit Kylie Minogue as being one of the most influential(to me)dance artists that have ever hit the club music scene.
