We are an instrumental acoustic guitar group. We like to play complicated songs with cool, interlocking parts. Once in a while, you'll get a solo, but that's not the main thing that drives our group. Some of our songs rock, but we're not a rock band. Others are jazzy, but we're not a jazz band. Anyone who likes guitar music should get into our stuff.
Why this name?
We were a duo, and just called ourselves "Andy and Tim" for a while. Might Could is southern slang meaning "might" or "could" or "maybe." It's our way of fighting back against all the pretentious band names out there.
Do you play live?
Whenever possible. Our home base is College Perk in College Park, MD, but we're trying to play out in a wider variety of places.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it easy to promote yourself and get your songs out there, but it also has allowed for a flood of stuff that it can be hard to get noticed in. Anyone can release a bad mp3...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the contract. We'd certainly like more fame and fortune than we have now (which is zero)
Band History:
Andy Tillotson wrote songs with a friend of his named Scott Phillips in South Carolina one winter break. He went back to Maryland, and formed Might Could with Tim McCaskey three years ago. A year later, Aaron Geller joined the gang. We started with three-person video game cover songs, and then wrote new material. Luis Nasser joined us later on bass. Our first "real" album, All Intertwined, was completed in August of 2005.
Your influences?
We like guitar stuff. We're all into metal, prog rock, and other goodness. Example things we like: Dream Theater, Tool, (old) Metallica, Opeth, King Crimson, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Symphony X, G'n'f'n'R...
Favorite spot?
Anywhere there's a show...
Equipment used:
Three acoustic guitars (Taylor, Guild, Ovation), and a bass. Right now, we just plug in and go.
