A Heart with a voice....
Why this name?
My parents did...A good mix of south Chicago Irish Catholic and Croatian heritage delivered in a "Mill Rat" demographic. My father worked 43 years in the steel mills so the cars you drive and the roads you drive them on were built on his steel. I am extremely proud of my home town,my family, my upbringing, my faith, and especially my Father and Mother so I show the same respect for others in my thoughts, words, actions, and music. I prefer Michael to Mike...but whatever works for you...
Do you play live?
SAN DIEGO: Blind Melon's; Hot Java Cafe; Metaphor Cafe; Cosmos; Twiggs; 'E' Street Cafe; Elevated; Milanos Pizza; Egyptian Tea Room; Tom Giblin's Irish Pub.
TUCSON: Epic Cafe; Bentley's; Shot in the Dark (Tucson Club Crawl '06'); Black Rose Cafe; Bookmans; Safehouse.
Alexandria, VA: Tiffany Tavern; Old Town Theater.
Every moment is special. Playing Hot Java's Acoustic Rountable II was an amazing way to say goodbye to San Diego. Playing with Sean Daniels, Mikah Flack, and Charles Woods in Tucson was fantastic! Alexandira's Old Town Theater promises to be the biggest stage and venue I've played and I can't wait!!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Everyone can do it. Trent Reznor put the individual tracks to his songs on Garage Band online and you have 10,000 versions of his music from complete beginners. He actually let all of us have his raw material so we could make our OWN versions of HIS music. The internet is a revolution of inde potential. This is all new for me so I'll see where it takes me. For now, I hope you'll listen and read what I have written and comment on my message board. Please let me know what you think.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, I would but in the words of John Cusack from "High Fidelity"...."We're not there yet Vincent..." But please feel free to go stalk some record exec for me to get me signed...I'm busy working to keep the lights on...
Band History:
I've been playing for 18 years. I've been writing for about 6 years and have been playing the local Open Mics in San Diego. I'm writing and learning and meeting some incredible artists in the area: Evyn Lopez, Johnny Love, Kellis David McDonald (My favorite!), Howling Coyotes, Thomas Sanchez and the Havana Blues Syndicate, Heather Baker, Tommy Edwards, Laura Kueble, and Happy Ron, just to name a few. Each one teaches me something new every time I see them. Ultimately, though, it's just a search and an invitation for everyone who has a heart to come along and learn how to use theirs. I'll play anytime and anywhere for you. Just let me know...
Your influences?
Jacksone Browne, Lifehouse, Johh Hiatt, Ani Di Franco, Indigo Girls, Third Eye Blind, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Penn, Amie Mann
Favorite spot?
Chicago, San Diego, Gallway, Ireland, & Grand Cayman. Dubai and Hong Kong are also incredible cities with incredible people.
I am a Hoosier at heart and still love my home town of Merrillville, Indiana ....GO PIRATES!!!...
Equipment used:
I play a Martin HD-28 with a Fishman Ellipse; an Ibanez Artwood; an Ovation deep bowl Balladeer, and an Epiphone Studio electric. I record with Garage Band on a G-5 through a AT 30-35 and SM-57. I use a DMP-3 pre-amp into a Behringer Mixer into my G-5. I have Rokit 8's for monitors.
Anything else...?
My time in San Diego has given me a goal for 2006 to spend money only on local and indy music this year. There is so much great music out there and you can literally listen non stop to good music without turning on the radio. Come out and see my shows and spread the word as I do for my friends and the places that are gracious enough to support local artists...we do it for love, they do it to make a profit so when you come out to see us play, buy a beer or coffee and help the owners keep their lights on! I hope you all enjoy my music. Please take a moment to leave a message on my board and let me know what you think.

Thanks....take care of you and yours...

God Bless...

Michael
