Ten Story Love tries to regenerate 70's-era Power Pop without any retro hangover. Also drawing on the sounds of 60's "Nuggets"-style Garage Rock and Alternative Pop & Americana from the 80's & 90's, the one common thread through all of Ten Story Love's songs is the focus on meaty hooks, tasty melodies, and lyrics with something to chew on.
Why this name?
The name Ten Story Love comes from a Romance series that began its life as a pulp magazine, shifting to comic book format in the 1950's. They called them pulps because they were printed on cheap paper and were inexpensive, portable, disposable, and often sensational. They were popular from the 1920's to the 1950's.
Do you play live?
We play around the New England region, mostly Massachusetts (Boston) and New Hampshire area. We love playing live, but pick & choose our gigs carefully.
If you make it big..?
...we'll just try to stay honest and write about the things that matter to us.
Band History:
It all goes back to when the bass player met one of the guitarists back in 1985 where they worked together at a record store. A year later, the bassist met the other guitarist, but it wasn't until 1995 that the 3 started talking about playing together. What started out as a songwriting project quickly became a full-fledged band with the addition of a drummer. We immediately started writing and recording material, much of which ended up on our first CD.
Your influences?
We've been compared to Matthew Sweet, Wilco, and the Gin Blossoms. Other people have said we sound like Cheap Trick, Tom Petty and Todd Rundgren. Your mileage may vary.
Favorite spot?
Disney World.
Anything else...?
