Al principio queriamos el tipico nombre de una banda de rock, que suena agresivo y a veces altamente intelectual por las explicaciones que dan acerca de donde surge ese nombre.Despues de un buen rato discutiendo acerca que nombre ponerle llegamos a la conclusion de que un nombre simple y la verdad sin mucho sentido estaria mejor y asi surgio Abstinencia Zero.

At first we wanted the usual weird name, the cliche of a rock band with an aggressive name or something that sounds highly intelectual. But after discussing for a while we came to the conclusion that a name with no sense, something that sounds funny would be better. Finally Abstinencia Zero popped out (translated to english it means Zero Abstinence) we thought of it as a cool name and decided to remain with that name.

Creo que gracias a la Internet varias bandas se han dado a conocer y no solo en sus paises si no alrededor del mundo lo cual favorece a la industria. En cuanto se refiere a las ventas de discos pues si ha afectado de cierta manera pero el mismo caso se dio cuando surgieron las grabadoras de cassette, siempre habra gente que prefiera sus discos originales.

I believe that the internet has been a helpful tool to some bands because it helps them to become known not only in their countries but all around the world. Referring to record sales, it definitely has caused a slight impact, but the same thing occurred when Tape recording was around, there always people who prefer to have the original recordings.

Lo interesante de esta banda es la diversidad que hay en cuanto a las influencias se refiere.
Cada integrante tiene influencias diferentes. Nuestro baterista estaba influenciado principalmente por el punk rock y el nu metal pero luego de que le enseñe unos grupos de metal progresivo en especial Dream Theater su estilo cambio por completo. Francisco y Jesus ambos son bastante influenciados por el rock mas comercial variando entre grupos como Soda Stereo, Mana, Heroes del Silencio, Guns n' Roses etc.
Luego yo, en lo personal tengo un gran variedad de influencias en lo comercial y lo mas underground, pero definitivamente mis mayores influencias vienen del metal, grupos como Dream Theater, Metallica, Opeth, Death etc. Pero como guitarrista me veo directamente por los denominados virtuosos de la guitarra (Malmsteen, Becker,Vai.) Toda esa mezcla de influencias viene a formar lo que es hoy en dia Abstinencia Zero.

The interesting thing about our band is the variety of influences we have. Every member has totally different influences. Our drummer began influenced by punk rock then I introduced him to progressive metal, specifically Dream Theater and that made him change his whole style of playing. Jesus (lead singer) and Francisco(bass)are both influenced by mainstream rock both in english and spanish, bands like Guns n Roses, Bon Jovi, Heroes del Silencio, Soda Stereo, Enanitos Verdes etc. I have a wide variety of influences some commercial and others underground, mostly Im into metal, some of them are Metallica, Dream Theater, Opeth, Death etc. But as a guitarist I'm deeply influenced by Jason Becker, Yngwie Malmsteen and many of the denominated guitar virtuosos. This whole variety of influences is what makes Abstinencia Zero what it is today.
