Frank Perez was born and raised in Lajas, Puerto Rico where he would begin to play keyboards and DJ at the age of 12. His musical studies wouldn't play center part on his life, however, until he moved to Connecticut in the late 80's. While in high school he learned how to play guitar, trumpet, saxophone and trombone. A list of instruments that grew over time. Although performing and playing the sax was something that Frank really enjoyed, writing and composing was something he loved. His interest in Ethnomusicology drove him to study and learn different styles of music from all over the world. In 1997 he was accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston on a composition scholarship to study filmscoring production and arranging. Frank has performed with numerous jazz, latin, blues and rock groups nationally while composing and arranging big band and film music. After living in Miami, FL for a few years Frank now resides in New England, where he continues to work with artists and filmmakers in upcoming projects.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I could wake up at 9am, write a song by mid afternoon and have it be played or heard by someone in Thailand within minutes....what's not to like?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
trick question
