Delivering the freshest sound Newcastle has heard in a long time pushing musical boundaries beyond limit, Slider's sound is in a genre of its own and their brand of passionate premium riffage leaves you wanting more.
Why this name?
We had a few ideas like, and spent the best part of a week actually sitting down and thinking about it, but it just came to the drummer, and from that day, we have been known as Slider!
Do you play live?
We have and will continue to play allover Newcastle, including top notch venues like the Head of Steam, The Cluny, The Bridge Hotel and many others. There are also plans to perform in Liverpool and London later in the year.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives listeners access to all kinds of music that they might not have been able to get a hold of without the internet, for an unsigned underground band, its excellent coverage.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Deffo man! A major label will be able to sell many of our records and we can manipulate their multinational status to get our messages across to a wider audience.
Band History:
The band started off as a 3-piece in the bass player's kitchen, consisting of Shaun Dillon (vocals), Mark Osborne (bass) and Martin Cardwell (drums). They added rhythm guitarist Darren Burdis and a lead guitarist (Mark's cousin) to form a band that took lots of influence from Oasis and The Stereophonics. The lead guitar slot was then taken over by Martin Williamson to complete the 5-piece line up. We now play an original rock n' roll set and we love it!
Your influences?
As mentioned, there were strong Oasis influences in the early days, now the music has evolved to include Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Stone Roses, Pink Floyd, the Foo Fighters and Aerosmith.
Favorite spot?
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Famous for great beer, great girls, Alan Shearer, and soon, SLIDER will become equally reknowned :)
