Lady Blaze started rapping in 2003. Gaining experience while being in the studio and onstage, L.B. strives to be a very profound and well-rounded rapper with a hip hop/reggae flow. Why this name?
I decided to choose lady blaze as my name because I spit fire. I've always loved the name blaze growing up and when it came time to pick a name I just added the lady to the blaze to stand out.
Do you play live?
As a DJ I play out all the time at various events. As a rapper I haven't really peformed too much because i'm getting myself together. I've peformed rapping for my college and for a "Lady Saw" concert as an opening act before. When I perform, I like to do big events even though I haven't had a lot of experience performing. It doesn't matter for me because I stay on top when I do my thang anywayz!! That is just my mentality!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I believe the internet is a very good way of communicating effectively just by email alone. Also the fact that you can have web pages and things of that nature where people can check you out all the time. That is a great thing. It allows for exposure 24/7.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would definately sign with a major label if the deal is right and I don't have to change who I really am.
Your influences?
Foxy Brown, Lil' Kim, Jean Grae, Lauryn Hill, Jay-z, Notorious B.I.G. and of course myself baby!
Favorite spot?
I like chilling in JA Queens NY. That is the spot!!
