With The Unification of two bands, Last Chance Romance And Sweetheart's Revenge, The Vanity Scene has come onto the post-hardcore scene with a goal. That is to stand out. With Melodic Vocals and Hardcore Break-downs, this quintet of young men is sure to open eyes in the music world. Their influences lie in such artists ranging from The Bled to Jimi Hendrix to N.E.R.D. to The Smiths. Each member brings in talent from different styles of music. One in the Spanish Flaminco art, another in Jazz, another in Metal, and another in Punk. When molded together you get The Vanity Scene.
Why this name?
The name came to us when we noticed how self centered most of the kids in the scene are...so in tribute to the scene we named our band the vanity scene.
Do you play live?
We mostly play at Bloomfield Ave. Cafe or the Lyndhurst Knights of Columbus...but we try to go all over. The experience we're gaining from each show is amazing...every show we tend to get 3 or more fans which is great.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet plays a big role now-a-days especially with unsigned bands...for instance I read some where that said Linkin Park would stream their music on the internet so kids can download it. That is the main reason they got so big so fast. So now a band can get big without getting signed just by the internet. Say your a band based in Rhode Island...through the internet your music can be heard in California without having to tour.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, for the main reason it would make things alot easier...touring,recording,merch. and what not.
Band History:
The Vanity Scene started in early 2005, With the merge of Ralph and Breno's old band (Last Chance Romance) with Sean, Rich, and Oscar's old band (Sweethearts' Revenge). Knowing each other from past acquantinces they decided to form a band. Not knowing what was goin to come out of this they began writing material for recording purposes. Before anyone knew it they were playing shows with such bands as Trophy Scars(The Death Scene), The Number 12 Looks Like You(Eyeball Records), GunsLikeGirls(Emerald Moon Records), Chiodos(Equal vision records), The Fall Of Troy(Equal vision records), Hometown Anthem (Emerald Moon Records), Rookie Of The Year(One Eleven Records), and David Melillo ( Drive-thru Records). Slowly building a fan base, and just finishing their demo, The Vanity Scene hopes to reach out to the states one-by-one on this long adventure to stardom.
Your influences?
That's whats great about this band...each of us have such different influences it makes us better as a band. For instance, Oscars biggest influence is Metallica...Ralph's Biggest influence is The Mars Volta...Breno's biggest influence is The Smiths...Sean's is Armor for Sleep, and Richs' is The Gorillaz
