Working in several genre's GrumpyMope merges the spirit of electronic music with smart, modern rock.
Why this name?
The name came about as we found ourselves discussing people we knew as grumpy and mopey. That led to us remmebering the sixties band "Moby Grape" and thought it was an entertaining pun to call ourselves "GrumpyMope."
Do you play live?
The two core members of GrumpyMope are Ante Marijan and Bruce Satinover. In 1993 we had been working on a electronica project and wanted to add more traditional rock elements to this. We started working with other personnel and almost broke up after negotiating a recording contract. We work as another band live, GrumpyMope is logistically difficult to gig with.
If you make it big..?
Who know's what making it big means. We'd rather have an audience that likes what we do. If it's a "big" audience that's cool but it's more important that people enjoy what we're doing.
Band History:
Ante Marijan, in the 90's soundscapes and compositions for synthesizer, electronica and music for dance, currently anchoring several bands and recording projects, co-founder of GrumpyMope.
Bruce Satinover, art rock 1974-76, punk 78-83, experimental 84 to 93, video, multimedia, electronica and several collaborations/associations with web based artists, co-founder of GrumpyMope.
