To the people of the north-east of Scotland, “potted heid” is all too familiar. This local “delicacy” is produced by boiling the head and brains of sheep to a mush and setting in jelly in small translucent pots.
The product looks like the contents of a septic tank with a frothy, fatty scum on top. It is normally eaten cold from the pot with the aid of a spoon or on a plate with tatties….love it or hate it, this is the food of our native Doric Gods!
PottedHeid is also a mixing and gelling of heads and brains. Their music, like the product, will evoke a wide range of emotions.
PottedHeid’s experimentation gives rise to a blend of dance-based folk-rock seasoned with Arabic, Metal, Disco, Euro-Pop, Punk, Techno and anything else which seems like a good idea at the time.
Improvisation is a major feature in developing PottedHeid’s material. The band members have a diverse musical background which keeps elements of the mix authentic in spite of the flagrant bastardization. Nothing is sacred, everything is profane…
