Ben Zene is a solo concept for a project I started in 1998 while learning about this guy from India named Patyala. It's a deadly toxic chemical, but I'm using it as a proper name.
Why this name?
I got the name from a list of toxic chemicals which were known to be additives in cigarettes. the conversation went a little like this:

Indranil informs me during a game of drunken chess that benzene the chemical was like, 6 carbon atoms in a circle. I slurred, "That'sh perfect. A mundo. Yeah. I want to make the mushic *hic* around... crazy ideas and shix shtring bassss. But it'sh gonna be my name. A proper name. Stuff like that..."

Indranil mused, "Schtuff like that... yeah. Your move."

"I jusht moved. You drink."

"Shit. Whichs cheshboard, man? You've godda be kidding me! Like there are, 4 knightssh and they're all mine."

"You gotta move man, and do a shot. You gotta."

Indranil drinks off the last of a seemingly unending river of captain morgans, attempts to grab a knight, misses, grabs the other knight and moves it. "Chessmate! Now you finish your glass."

"ShiiiiIIiit."

I stare stark raving mad at a nearly full, 12 ounce glass of 50% rum 30% ice and 20% coca cola and a lime smiling back at me like the grinch that stole christmas and glance back at the board.

Chessmate.

Do you play live?
There is currently a serious migraine headache involved with mixing 7 or 8 basses in a live setting so as not to explode the PA system or concuss the audience. That and finding the other bassists aside, it's a possibility that a live show could occur.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is transforming the music industry by making it easier for artists to collaborate on music, or to just play with themselves and share it with the world. Wait a minute, that doesn't sound right.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I am not currently seeking industry representation but it's not out of the question
