Buswell are a 3 guy/2 gal group who use pianos, violins, drums, bass, guitar, voices and samples to make a heady mix of provocative, intense pieces and introspective lullabies. They draw inspiration from folk, indie rock, hip-hop, drum'n'bass, funk, classical, post-rock, surreal cinema, warm and cold memories, and anything else that can be touched and played with.
Why this name?
Same way people pick the names for their kids.
Do you play live?
Buswell play live all the time, and every moment is special. Their live show takes in both dancing and crying, and can be described as an open attempt at honesty (which probably explains the schizophrenic genre-hopping of the band). They like to push themselves, and enjoy experimentation. Without it, we'd probably all still be listening to Gregorian chanting.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Internet makes everything more accessible for people. But it also makes people more apathetic and lazy. Pro's and cons for it really.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the deal was right, and everything was right, anyone would sign a deal they were happy with.
Band History:
Buswell as an entity has existed for a few years now, starting mainly as a solo artist with the album Proudness, and growing into the 5-piece act you now view before you.
Your influences?
A mix of folk and indie rock with pianos, violins and loose beats.
