Hello from Six Feet Over, an all original three man band from the North Carolina highlands. As a three piece band we work and play hard without many of the luxuries of larger bands. Although sometimes we show up with as many as five members the core of the band is guitar, bass, and drums.
Why this name?
Since there are three of us we have six feet, and as we are obviously alive, we can't be six feet under. Over the years several names were tried but none conveyed who we are better. We aren't kids anymore, we've matured and this name suits us.
Do you play live?
We don't get out as much as we would like to but occasionally show up in hole in the wall juke joints where we can play all night.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Although we are fairly new to the internet we see it as the best way to share our music with an audience which would never hear us otherwise.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Our door is always open to A&R people. We know the competition is tough but we can keep hoping.
Band History:
We've been around forever, not in this band but playing with various others before comming together as Six Feet Over, even made a few changes in the couple of years it has taken to formulate the "what it takes," to be Six Feet Over. Bass player, Tony Tabor, guitarist Dani Pace and drummer Doug Taylor began playing together way back in 1973. Through several bands both together and seperately they have somehow remained friends over the years. These three are the core, heart and soul of Six Feet Over.
Your influences?
We've been touched by the music of many artists like Carl Perkins, Eric Clapton, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Z Z Topp, George Thorogood and a long line of other country and southern rockers. Perhaps our greatest influence has been each other and the other people we have had the pleasure of playing with. We have all listened to many artists but the ones we have known and played with have taught us the most and influenced us in too many ways to mention.
Favorite spot?
Anywhere with mountains. Beaches aren't bad. Big cities are hectic but they can be fun too. We haven't tried the desert yet but wouldn't mind giving that a try too.
Equipment used:
We don't use any brands exclusively but we do lean towards Ibanez guitars, Kramer bass, Slingerland drums and Fender amps.
Anything else...?
You've been warned, as long as we are Six Feet Over, we might be comming to your town.
One last note, "If you like us... tell others, if you don't... tell us."
