penumbra is actually just me, tyson oakes zamora.
i feel that music speaks an infinite amount of words, so for a more proper introduction, just listen to a song.

Why this name?
it means "partially lighted part of the shadow"..........(irony, hope and non-sense all rolled into one, a little like myself). besides it sounds cool, looks cool........
Do you play live?
yes i am very familiar with the concept, but why?
got a gig for me or something

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
great promotional tool, especially for bands that put a lot of effort into the album as a whole, an artpiece. if there's only one song you want, then go for it, but the music i listen to follows a careful flow and comes with great artwork.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
of course, with lots of artistic freeeeedom.
Band History:
penumbra is an alias name for me and the music i've been recording over the past 9 years.
i've been recording pseudo-conceptual cassette tapes since i was like 11, so i see this as kind of the masterpiece of my amateuristic endeavours.
i've played in one heavy metal band, when i was 15, and knew right away that there was no way i would be able to play conventional r'n'r ever again...since then i've just tried to be as creative, spontaneous and emotional as i could be...UPDATE:the album that i recorded on my grandmothers computer is finished, however there's still no printing(or money) but i can package a few myself and send 'em out at a low cost if you would just contact me and leave a mailing address.....i'd probably even do it for free if you were the right kinda person......also am working on organic-acoustic-dreamscape-lap-hop
project for 04-without grandma(very eager).

Your influences?
anything thoughtful and imaginative.....radiohead, skinny puppy, sublime, beck, pink floyd, wilco, sigur-ros, sonic youth (murray street is bad ass), tool, king crimson, tom waits...(new band The High Violets from oregon are great)
Favorite spot?
anywhere where the air is fresher than it is in the city. mountains and record shops, prairie's and head shops.........
Equipment used:
anything i can get my hands on(currently:an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar, two old keyboards, one which is a trusty 80's childs synth, and various invaluable junk......
Anything else...?
2004 is looking hopeful for a full penumbra ensemble, wish us luck
