This is the beginning of a side project. These recordings are just me on guitar and bass with me sequencing midi drums and synths. Hope to have some more musicians soon to back me up.
Why this name?
An Abakus was a mathemeticians/philosophers/astronomers best freind. Secret Societies were passed down through the ages to pass down sacred rites and knowledge. These attempts would have been futile without a calculting device, such as an Abakus. I'm just keeping the ancient traditions alive.
Do you play live?
Aas I am still in school all year round, and have nobody to play with me (as of yet), Abakus cannot perform live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
You don't own music to listen to, only music to play (if you don't write it, don't play it, unless it's well known and you acknowledge it isn't yours). CD sales don't do sh*** for artists. Buy their merchandise to help them...and buy it directly from them.

So, dowloading for free is a good way to hear a band for the first time. It's almost like radio, only without the suck. If you like the band, goto a concert and buy their shit. It's the best way to help them.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
What would you consider major? Centery Media, Earache, Metalblade, Nuclear Blast, Spinefarm, etc. If those are major, then yes, of course.
Your influences?
Borknagar, Vintersorg, Pagan's Mind, Spiral Arcitect, Andromeda, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Death, Extol, Liquid Tension Experiment, etc. Anything Heavy and Progressive. I also listen to a lot of fusion jazz and classical.
