NEWS
We're playing some shows, we're writing new material, and we're recording our very first professionally recorded and produced full length album this winter. It's tentative release date is mid-March of next year. We'll be touring the east coast in support of the new album in May.

The lid is a Minneapolis based indie alternative rock band that was formed in late October of 2004. We're new but we've made tremendous progress in a short time.
Our sound is diverse, yet distinct. You'll appreciate the unpredictable nature of our song arrangements and yet by the end of it all you'll be humming our melodies. Our songs are emotional and honest. We'll build you up and we'll tear you down.

Why this name?
There isn't a cool story here unfortunately. The lid is the only name we could all agree on.
Do you play live?
Yeah we play live. In fact we love playing live. We sound better live than on our EP. It's hard to capture the energy and emotion of a live performace in the studio unless you have a really awesome producer/engineer. Which we will this winter.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes major labels a little less significant. It makes radio less relevent. It makes it a lot easier for people to hear music from bands that maybe they would never have been able to find 20 years ago. On the internet people can listen to exactly what they want rather than having to suffer through the typical commercial radio playlist which as we all know is the worst of the bad.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell yeah! But only if we could still control the musical direction of the band.
Your influences?
Radiohead, Muse, Mars Volta, Foo Fighters, Incubus, Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, etc... We're all over the place!
