Granny Smith ceased trading about the same time as their first CD was released (1996). As a sort-of almost 10 years tribute I decided to make some of the tracks available as MP3's - see what kind of reaction we get.
Why this name?
We used to be Men Without Heads for years but when we released the CD we thought it sounded too much like Men Without Hats (anyone remember 'Safety Dance'?) especially in a dutch accent (we were based in Holland). So we did the committee thing and ended up with one of the world's worst band names.(My apologies to the german group who have subsequently chosen the same moniker).
Do you play live?
The band no longer exists, but the survivors are still all gigging.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Gonna finish it off.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If there was a real commitment to promote the music.
Your influences?
Hmmmm. A mixture of jazz, pop, funk and just about every other kind of music. Sort of 'jazz-pop'
