I am a Cuban-American Producer from Omaha, Nebraska. I've been making beats for about 10 years now. I try all kinds of Hip-hop and rap beats, but I specialize in Underground Sample-based beats. I also MC, DJ, Engineer, Mix, Master, and Scratch. I also do Graphic Design and Web Design.
Why this name?
(R)Con is my version of the word Archon which was what they called the president during the first democracy ever in Ancient Greece.
Do you play live?
I am one half of the group, Skilled Affiliates, from Omaha, Nebraska. We do shows about every other month or so (on and off). I also DJ at various clubs and bars around Omaha. I also DJ house parties. I am also the official DJ for Brealthless, aka Honey B.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It is a much easier way to get your stuff heard by anyone and anyone that wants to hear your stuff can just refer to the internet to hear them instead of having to burn a CD. It also makes it easier to collaborate with other artists from all over the world.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Your influences?
My parents listed to a lot of Classic Rock while I was growing up. In high school I started listening to a lot of Big Band, Jazz, and Swing - but at the same time I was also getting more and more into Rap/Hip-hop. Now, I listen to a lot of Underground Hip-hop. I love The Roots, J Dilla, 9th Wonder, Black Milk, Slum Village, Little Brother, just about anyone from Boot Camp Click (Sean Price, Rock, Buckshot, etc.), Kanye West, Hi-Tek, Swizz Beats, and Just Blaze.

Equipment used:
Although I used to use an MPC2000XL, Korg Triton, Yamaha EX5, Roland RS-9, and Symphonic Orchestra; I am currently using Reason 3.0 with Recycle for my Sample chopping. I use lots of samples. I have an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 and a Korg PadKontrol. I do my work on a Mac. I also use Pro Tools 7 LE for my recording, mixing, mastering, and basic audio editing. I have two Numark HDX's and a Vestax 07 Pro Mixer that I use to DJ and scratch with.
