Brighton based EJ Norman delivers catchy pop songs of pure synth-driven melodrama, evoking overheard arguments in tacky small-town nightclubs, the wistful dreams of escape imagined on lonely railway bridges, and the precise moment when you realise that a love affair is dead in the water.

Since arriving on the Brighton scene, EJ has had success on a local level as well as performing around the country.

In 2007, EJ managed and promoted the Electro night DREAM SEQUENCE in Brighton - which brought together Electro musicians and great new art. (www.myspace.com/dreamsequencenight)

In November 2007 EJ opened the show at the launch of the Sparks tribute album "A Rainbow over the Freeway" at Madame Jojos in Soho. www.myspace.com/arainbowoverthefreeway

EJ has also appeared at Birmingham NEC as part of Music Live - the UK's biggest music fair and showcase of new talent.

EJ continues to gig in the Brighton/Hove area and beyond.

Somewhere between the Pet Shop Boys and Saint Etienne, EJ Norman is definitely a talent to be watched.
Do you play live?
I play live wherever and whenever I can. I've gigged in and around Brighton for the last few years. I've also played all over the country, from Cambridge to Manchester, Oxford to Birmigham. I love performing and I'm happiest onstage.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is fantastic for getting your music out there. It's opened up the industry for lots of new talent.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'd cross that bridge if I came to it.
Band History:
EJ Norman’s formative years were spent playing in bands in her native Cambridge, and doing the rounds of local festivals. Now Brighton based, Norman is going it alone, delivering songs of pure synth-driven melodrama, evoking overheard arguments in tacky small-town nightclubs, the wistful dreams of escape imagined on lonely railway bridges, and the precise moment when you realise that a love affair is dead in the water. Somewhere between the Pet Shop Boys and Saint Etienne, EJ Norman is definitely a talent to be watched.

Your influences?
My musical influences are very diverse. My main rule is I'll listen to anything as long as it's not boring. Just a VERY SMALL selection would include Air, St. Etienne, Annie, Abba, Yazoo, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Elvis Costello, John Howard, Sparks, Girls Aloud, The Divine Comedy and Human League.

One of my musical heroes is Kate Bush, because she's unafraid to do new and innovative things, and she produces herself - an aspiration of mine!
Favorite spot?
I've lived in a few places and everywhere's different. I love the vibrancy of Brighton, but I also like to get away from it all, maybe up to the Highlands of Scotland.
Equipment used:
I create a lot of my sounds using a Mac Mini, running Logic 7. I combine this with vocals, samples and live musicians.
Anything else...?
