One day I received an old synthetizer by airmail from UK. The pack included a big "UPS STANDARD" sticker, but I read by mistake LIPSTANDARD : the name of the band was found ! Then, the fact that our band contains few vocals worked too. Finally, we don't make standards... so it's a cynical-concept name.

Even if we actually play by hands and record in real time, we don't play live. Who would want to see us ? Where ?! Anyway, it's technically impossible to play live our 8-16 tracks songs as we are 2 and have only 2 hands each ! We would need 4 other members (that would share our musical point of view too...) to present some of our 57 songs within a faithfull rendering of the records version.

Thanks to the mp3/p2p generation we can have an easier access to the obscure & underground bands from the 70's & 80's, and that's great ! Unfortunatly we have lost the "research effort" & the quality of sound/ears. When I hear that poprock bands like the low Interpol would be the new Joy Division, I want to cry & kill !

I'm not into mainstream music/sounds/way of life, sorry baby.

In november 2004, I've stopped my solo project WHILE COLD BLUE (experimental cold wave) that lasted 4 years (2000-2004) to form a new one, called LIPSTANDÄRD. More than a simply change of name, it was a musical evolution : let down rock filiations within new wave to a handle a personnal style amongst only-old-synth music.

At the very beginning, I was only sure of a thing : I had to stop playing bass and guitar to focalize on a spiritual instrument, the synthesizer. To be honest, I knew nothing about that instrument as 2 years before I found by random a full-working YAMAHA CS01 mkII for 3 Eur and didn't find the difference between it and a ROLAND XP80. But, thanks to the impulsion of Rigeck Rodgers & some web info, the synthetic world became more real.
After 3 months of musical research, LIPSTANDÄRD really begun with a first & self-titled EP of 8 tracks (released on january 2005 as "LIPSTANDÄRD I"). I actually composed and played note by note 100% of the tracks. And, in spite of any label or press/web support, 6 albums & 2 singles have been done under that lonely schedule / solo phase.

In 2005, on may 22nd to be sharp, I've discovered A8 (aka MODEL A6A), an all-white & pure 80's class model in the streets of a lost town. She was still, all alone, not friendly, quite an alien... a NUWOMAN to say the truth ! The fact that she happened to share my musical & mental trip was a gift. So, as an evidence, I asked her to join me in order to make possible my long-dreamed concept of duo-couple band. Now LIPSTANDÄRD is a real group formed by A8 and ALAN B YOND !

The new line-up of LIPSTANDÄRD has released 2 new singles and is actually thinking/working on a 7th album that would bring a further musical step (especially on the rhythmic elaboration & pass from minimal demotrack to the 12-16 tracks wall of sound). It may take time to achieve it...

My main infleunce is the experimental way of making freak music. I don't like simpy "pop" or "danceable" tunes, I need more depth and strange things.
