This was written in late February 2005, and concerns the personal way we are affected by, and relate to, the passage of time. For the backing I tried to get a 'one-man band' effect.

About the song
This was written in late February 2005, and concerns the personal way we are affected by, and relate to, the passage of time. It features four acoustic guitar tracks and Tuba bass. The rhythm track was made up of percussive vocal sounds loaded into a sampler, augmented by some unusual drum sounds. An accordion gives additional harmony, completing the one-man band effect.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Twenty-five years ago
There was this man I know,
Now when he looks at me
I don't know who I see.
I'm getting older, not getting wiser,
Mystery, mystery.

Verse 2
I scan the stars and the milky sea
To catch a slice of history,
Holes abound this ship we sail,
More fragile than a comet's tail.
We're getting older, and getting wilder;
Mystery, mystery.

Chorus
Time needs a doctor!
For the sake of you and the whole sick crew
Time needs a doctor.

Verse 3
Every day that we do well
Is spit in the eye of an angel.
He laughs aloud at what you fear,
Death is music to his ears.
I'm getting older, it's getting colder;
Mystery, mystery.

Verse 4
Sneeze and miss a meteorite
Scar the black face of the night
For a billion years he crossed the skies,
His death was music for my eyes.
We're getting older, not getting brighter,
Mystery, mystery.

Chorus
Time needs a doctor!
For the sake of you and the whole sick crew
Time needs a doctor.
Time needs a doctor!
I blink, another year goes by,
Time needs a doctor.

Middle 8
An isotope! A stethoscope!
To measure each and every heartbeat's precious scope,
I feel it racing, accelerating.

Verse 4
I'm not ready yet my friend,
This is not the time to end,
And when I look at you
I see you're not ready too.
You're getting older, and growing wilder;
Mystery, mystery.

Chorus
Time needs a doctor!
For the sake of you and the whole sick crew
Time needs a doctor.
Time needs a doctor!
I blink, another year goes by,
Time needs a doctor.
