Why this name?
All of us are busy as a bee. Whenever we play together, make music together, we feel that we are Away For The Day...
Do you play live?
as of now, we play for some school events and independent productions.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it made piracy more profitable at the same way made some independent artist reach to more audiences
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
HELL YEAH! but if we have some money, we rather be indie..
Band History:
Away For The Day is a 4 piece band composed of Eros Arbilon on vocals, Jericho Dela Cruz on Drums, Geno Moscardon on Bass and JP Gabutin on guitars.
Eros, Jericho and Geno were all schoolmates at Don Bosco Technical College in Mandaluyong city during their high school years. Eros is 1 batch higher than Jericho and Geno. The 3 of them were active members of the combo club and plays during Masses and some school programs.
2005, Jericho and Geno regrouped alongside with Daniel Malabanan and Krismond Gutierrez who is a schoolmate in De La Salle University in Taft, for a school event. And in August, Eros joined them to complete the initial line-up of the band. They performed for an independent production for their first gig in Mai-Yuchi bar and resto in Malate.
The band started out doing cover versions of the songs “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo” by Yano and “No touch” by Juan Dela Cruz Band. As months passed by, the longing to express their emotions and the excitement of sharing their individual stories was the very reason they started to make original compositions. They posted some of their songs in Soundclick.com and fortunately, some of the songs gained quite a following such as “Kawawa”, “Best Before” and the instrumental “Panaginip”.
On the early part of 2006, Krismond took a leave to focus more on his studies and Daniel went part ways with the band due to creative differences with other band members. July of 2006, JP, a budding guitar virtuoso and a classmate of Jericho joined the band to add a metallic feel to some of their already melodic songs.
Since then, the band played alongside with some of the famous acts in the industry such as Mayonnaise, Kala, Itchyworms, Imago, Sugarfree, Barbie Almalbis and Greyhoundz. They can also be found playing at different bars in the metro such as Saguijo, 6underground, Big Sky Mind, Mugen, Countrysteak bar, Kolumn Bar and 7th note bar.
