NEWS   Revolium is back in the studio, working on what hopefully is to become our debut album! We've finished one track, and it's called "Psychedelic Revolution".

Revolium is a Norwegian alternative band, influenced by the likes of MC5, The Velvet Underground, The Beatles, Motorpsycho, Led Zeppelin and The Who. We can offer you warm, explosive, energetic, personal music, often with a depressive undertone. We like to experiment with everything from late 60's psychedelic sounds, to powerful 70's hard rock.
Why this name?
Our bandname is Hindu for "bass-guitar". (Now we revealed that secret...)
Do you play live?
We play live every now and then, mostly in small clubs in Southern Norway. We love playing live, and we are very heavier live than in the studio. We use to get into a groove and jam over it. A special moment was when we warmed up for the now well known Norwegian group Ricochets. We went completely off, caused mayhem on stage, smashed three mirrors in the club and broke a guitar from another band in the process. Ricochets were left stunned and almost unable to get on stage.
If you make it big..?
We will give absolutely everything we've got to make a complete, inspired band out of ourselves. We know we've got a lot to contribute with, and if we ever make it, we will put it all out!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We're a bit of a double moralist band. We think it's great for independent, unsigned bands like ourselves to promote and show ourselves to the music world, but we think it's frightening how much the record companies are losing on illegal MP3 sharing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, indeed. We'd love to reach a bigger audience, and share our sorrows and joys with them. In spreading our music word-wide, we would concentrate on keeping the passion and love for music we all share with our fans.
Band History:
Revolium is a story of belief, disbelief, hard work and nothing done. Founded in 1997, we played our first gigs at a local school in a small town called Kløfta. Although everyone thought we were strange, there was always a fascination present, and we got positive reviews from local papers and musicians. We've always had a great deal of ambition and potential, but a lack of general interest has kept us struggling backwards and forwards at the local scene. We brought in a one-performance-only vocalist in May '98 (Håvard Pedersen), who sadly died only 5 months later, and a rhythm guitarist (Halvor Mehlem) for two years (1998-2000). The original line-up is the present one. Still barely a cult-phenomenon, we avoid selling ourselves for commercialism at all costs, and are constantly waiting for the good people to find Revolium and pick us off the streets.
Your influences?
There are lots of bands that inspire us all the time. Some of them are MC5, Velvet Underground, Motorpycho, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Stooges, The Doors, Sex Pistols, Edgar Broughton Band, Bob Hund, Jimi Hendrix, and David Bowie. There are probably at least a thousand more, but these are some of the ones most of you know (or should know).
Favorite spot?
I've been to London once. That made a deep impression. Wish I could see India though. Or maybe even Egypt?
Equipment used:
This is important to us. Are the labels good enough? We've got a Hoefner bass, a Rickenbacker electric guitar and a Ludwig drum-kit.
Anything else...?
Perhaps this is the right time and place to thank all the people, artists and bands that made music out of my world? You saved my life! Thanks to SoundClick for putting our music online, and thanks to all fellow music lovers on earth! I love you all.
