David Raymer is a singer, bass guitarist and songwriter originally from Los Angeles, California. Showcased here are his new country/rock songs written since he arrived in Holland. All songs were recorded at David's home studio in California and Holland.
Why this name?
Silvertown is the name of a Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) song. It is a real mining town in England.
Do you play live?
Silvertown performed all over LA and Orange Country, including The Wilde, Littlerock, Kelly's Pub, Scoreboards and the Alhambra Street Fair. Featured were excellent guitarists Jim Beavors (pictured) and Alan Stevens, as well as San Gabriel valley legend Mike Victory on drums and background vocals.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Forever, or else we wouldn't have this site. Check out my other soundclick sites, daveraymer, davidraymer, anneerhardtanddaveraymer. Thanks!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I always figured a professional bassist and licensed Chiropractor would be a great combination for any major touring act. A lot of stars aren't getting any younger, and avoiding cancelling concerts and tours due to severe back strain could save a band and promoter millions. I know George Michael and Christina Aguilera both cancelled tours due to screwed up backs. Any offers?
Band History:
David previously worked in Stuttgart, Germany as a Chiropractor where he treated Stefi Graf, Boris Becker, Anna Kournikova and Arancha Sanchez. David would love to work and tour with any recording artists, functioning as a support musician, vocalist and therapist for the entire band and crew! Any offers North of Cape Horn and South of Juno?
Your influences?
Dave is influenced by country in the vein of Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, The Dixie Chicks, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Merl Haggard, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, and Brooks and Dunn. Also older, country-rock music like Dan Hicks, Flying Burrito Brothers, Commander Cody, Jackson Browne, Neil Young and the Eagles.
Favorite spot?
LA, Seattle, Stuttgart Germany.
Equipment used:
Fender Squier Strat, custom made Warmoth/WD basses, Fender Korean Squier Jazz Bass and Precision bass. Epiphone Les Paul, Samick 450 guitar, Takamine C128, Alvarez Yairi 6 and 12 string, Carvin bass amp, Marshall Valvestate guitar amp, Studiomaster Vision 900 powered mixer.
Anything else...?
I feel music is there to make our lives better - to get us through the stress of the day and week, to bring us together, to remind us to have fun! What is life without music? Not much fun if you ask me! And it's so great for me when somebody responds to my song and feels it in their heart - that's what it's all about.
