Band History:
If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself. That is the motto of Nook the Crook, a rock group who has taken a fresh approach to playing popular music. They are a band whose primary concern is their craft, not their image. They sound like someone put Incubus, Weezer, Audioslave, and Phish in a blender. Their mission is to unite a variety of musical styles that music lovers already enjoy into a unique new experience. Nook the Crook writes songs with memorable hooks while remaining musically adventurous. Their ever-changing live shows take unexpected twists and turns featuring jamming, medleys, and anything else the band can dream up to ensure a great experience for their audience. The band is made up of four diversely talented musicians: Mike Birchard (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Nick Fazzini (Guitar, Vocals), Dan Richardson (Bass, Vocals, Guitar), and Brian Strain (Drums, Percussion). As a result of playing in rock bands, jazz and orchestral ensembles, as well as being producers of rock, pop, and hip-hop; the members of Nook the Crook are musically educated and seasoned beyond their age. In 2003, the four eager youngsters recorded a debut EP entitled “A Minute Before Morningstar”, before ever playing a gig together. With their newly completed work in hand, they played colleges and bars selling more than 500 CD’s. At schools like Villanova, Ursinus, Drexel, Penn State, LaSalle and West Chester; Nook the Crook quickly found an enthusiastic audience. They have played with J-Records recording artist Silvertide, at Sin-e in New York City. Other past gigs have included Grape Street Pub, The Ridge, The Point, and Emerald City. Nook the Crook is currently working on their first full-length album that they are producing, engineering, mixing, writing and performing themselves. This ambitious project is eagerly awaited as both a showcase of the band’s incredible talent, as well as a means to a larger audience and record label attention.
