My name is Lamaar Walker and I am currently a Senior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY but I am from Jamaica, Queens (NYC). I like to think that I offer a style that is unique, and I feel that I improve lyrically and vocally each day. I am constantly working on my sound and my writing so that it can one day compare to the likes of the Ushers, R. How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it just forces the industry to be more creative with how they market material to consumers. Also,I personally feel that if an artist is putting out quality work, it will sell regardless (Look at Destiny's Child, Usher, Mariah Carey, Ray Charles, Norah Jones, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and the list goes on and on.)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably, although I do love the freedom of prospective independent labels.
Band History:
Born August 10, 1985, Lamaar Walker was born into a musical family. With a mom and father that sing and play piano, grandparents who sing and play instruments, a brother that plays drums and organ, and a host of other family members who've influenced his style, it's no question why Lamaar Walker sings with a passion that is unquestionable. Although a "church boy" at heart and by upringing, Lamaar chose to embrace R&B. Lamaar's soulful voice is sure to stand out while touching the hearts of many at the very same time. Everyone should take heed, a new star has arrived!
