Dave Raymer is a bassist/vocalist/songwriter now living Holland. He performed solo acoustic in Stuttgart Germany, and also with his band Silvertown in the San Fernando and San Gabriel areas.
Why this name?
Check out Anneerhardtanddavidraymer, davidraymer and Silvertown, my other bands, on this site.
Do you play live?
Dave performed last year at Paladino's in Reseda with a Robin Trower tribute band, and with his own top 40 band Silvertown at Kelly's Pub in Arcadia, and Sports Page in Lomita. We also play Ricks on the boardwalk in Alhambra. Dave played solo at St. George and Dragon Pub in Stuttgart, Germany in 2000, where he played for Joe Cocker and his entire band and crew!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Totally, it's impossible to make money as a musician anymore.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
As soon as they start giving record contracts to 44 year old chiropractors.
Band History:
Dave played with Sacramento band Legacy, and LA bands Four Walls, Dance-O-Matics, and 900 West. He has recently played with Stund in the OC and Silvertown, in San Gabriel.
Your influences?
David Bowie, Morrissey, The Ramones, Roxy Music, Camel, Dire Straits, Jaco Pastorius.
Favorite spot?
I performed in Stuttgart, Germany for about 6 months, solo acoustic, including one performance for Joe Cocker and his entire band and crew. They were very nice. I also got free fish and chips and Guiness beer every time I played, so it was basically heaven.
Equipment used:
I play Fender-type basses I build myself out of WD necks and Warmoth bodies. My acoustic guitars are Yairi-Alvarez's and Takamine. My amp and PA speakers are from Carvin, and my mixing board is by Studiomaster.
Anything else...?
I record on my PC using SEKD software, which I think sounds great. It's straight up, 8 track recording, and sounds exactly like a tape machine in my opinion. Check out SEKD.com.
