Choc City consists of 2 members, Justyn Time, who handles production, recording, mixing and mastering of all songs. A. Carter is the fierce writer and singer that fuels the creativity of each session. Justyn Time and A. Carter were born in Washington D.C and were raised in various parts of the DC metro area. The two flamethrowers met when they were just 7 and 8 years old and have been a indestructible team ever since.
Why this name?
The name "Choc City" was chosen half way through the completion of our first album "The Beltway." We werent too concerned with a name, we just linked up and made songs when we could. In a line on the "Dont Push Me" A.Carter said "Its Choc City my man not rap city...." and it just clicked.
Do you play live?
We would perform live, anywhere really, but right now we are just focusing on finishing the album and getting it out there.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet nowadays fuels the music industry. It our main form of comunication, publicity and commercialization of everything. Without the internet 50 Cent couldnt sell 5 million records of garbage to the 15 year old white girls in podunk, KY
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I dont think we would unless it was something that looked like it would really pan out. We got families to support and keeping food on the table is our first priority.
Your influences?
Justyn Time's main musical influence is Nas who destroyed Jay-Z although A. Carter's main influence is Jay-Z. Its too bad for Carter that Jay lost like that. Sorry Carter.
Favorite spot?
