Why this name?
The name, Third Kind, signifies the difference between us and the current two party system Hip Hop seems to be stuck in. Mainstream or Underground, it doesn't matter. We stand for good music. Originality and meaning, not demeaning and unrealistic.
Do you play live?
yes weve done a ton of live shows
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is simply another medium for artists to gain exposure without the helping, and sometimes manipulative, hand of the music industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Given the right circumstances, a major label deal would sound very applealing. Although cliche` in the world of "Underground" and "Mainstream" hip hop, artistic integrity is still extremely important to us. The music we make is the music we want to make. We already have day jobs where we work for, and get paid to endorse, someone elses product, so were not neccessarily jumping at the chance to trade culture for cream.
Your influences?
Eclectic is an understatement when describing the musical influences of Third Kind. Everything, from Al Green to Johnny Cash, Wu-tang to blue grass is on regular rotation in somebodies car at sometime.
