G-Whiz is a soon becoming a staple in Connecticut Hip-Hop. G-Whiz's flavor is one that few can resist with contagious melodies and earth trembling baselines. This producers style is compounded by his versatility, garnering the ability to make beats for any MC residing anywhere on the earth. Hailing from New London, CT, G-Whiz's mastery of his craft has caught the attention of MC's locally, throughout the country and abroad. After paying dues in the Hip-Hop community as a DJ, "Whiz" is now ready to put Connecticut on the map.
Why this name?
Actually its a couple of things. My dad was a DJ and one time he took me to a record store in Providence, R.I. for his monthly when I was about 11. They had a turntable set up there so you could here what you were buying. My dad stepped down and told me to hold his spot. I put on the head phones and got into it like I was at home. I went through about 10 records in 10 minutes of cuttin', scratchin', and mixin'. My dad called me and I looked up and all eyes were on me. I heard the owner asked my dad "Gee wiz!! That's your son??!! How old is your boy?".

Before that day I used to be called Little Jimmy or LJ after my dad let me on the radio when I was about 9 (My Pop's DJ name was James Gregory).
All my life, people had told me I had a knack for stuff or at the head of my class, whether its academics, sports, music, etc.- that's were the Whiz comes from. My first name's Greg that's were the G comes from.
Do you play live?
When I was 12 at the same Providence, R.I. record store I met Kid Capri while he was spinning a promotional set. He autographed the tape of the day and gave it to me. To this day you still can't tell me nothin about the kid. He's an ill DJ.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For independent artists, its a good way to get heard. But I think its also a good way to share ideas with heads in the field that might not be next door.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Believe Dat. But, I'm not compromising my integrity or art for no one.
