Cat Rood is a female rock guitarist with two all-instrumental CDs. The music is in the vein of Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, and Joe Satriani. It' rock with a twist! The guitar screams and cries and sometimes just plain moans! It's not for fans of 'GIRL MUSIC'!! Cat played ALL the instruments on the CDs except for the drums. She has also included several vocal songs. Cat even played the drums on "My Only Vice" & "Whatcha Gonna Do"!
Why this name?
It's been my stage name for years.
Do you play live?
I play occasion in clubs when a band comes my way. I LOVE playing live. It's the best! I have many wonderful memories.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's like opening all the doors!!!! However, it has become so competitive, just like anything else. Still, you can have your music heard by everyone without having to leave your house.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if I got to keep my song rights and the deal was good.
Band History:
Cat is a hard-rocking female guitarist originally from Ohio. She started out first on the trumpet at age 6, took up the guitar at age 12, and began playing in bands just a few months later. Cat started out playing lead in all-male bands and later mostly all-male bands which toured most of the US, opening for many major acts and doing extensive club work. One of these bands worked with artists like Percy Sledge and Donna Fargo. She then moved to Toronto where she joined the successful all-girl band "Apple Viper" who appeared on TV, placed in several competitions, recorded, and toured Ontario and Manitoba. Now residing in Sacramento where she works at a TV station, Cat has released two solo CDs which she recorded in her home digital recording studio. She wrote all the songs and played every instrument except the drums. She also recently wrote original songs and music for the short films "The Interrogation" & "Rules, Regs, & Arrears" and for the full length movie "Sunshine".
