Russian WINTER
NEWS   This is Jake, the bassist. We now have our three song demo of Hallowed be thy name, Lightning storm, and Straitjacket. Our recent recruits are Denny Monroe on vocals and Shane Pagnatta on Rhythm guitar, and we hope to be out at a venue near you in the near future!

The Rockoff is over. Unfortunately, we did not qualify to advance to the final round. Best of luck to the three bands from Jan 7th who moved on.

Russian Winter: the one thing that saved the Russian army from the German onslaught. With powerful, heavy riffs and spine-chilling solos, Russian Winter is a heavy metal band everyone with a love for metal should hear.
Why this name?
Nature is powerful... and when coupled with the Russian Army, its even more powerful.
Do you play live?
We've played one gig at Section 8 in Hubbard... it was pretty cool and we got a nice crowd response, despite it not being a metal crowd.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps in many many ways, but at the same time leads to piracy. For bands just starting out its a blessing, and for those who are already popular and making money it doesn't really hamper them too much, so long live MP3!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
YES
Band History:
We started out a few years ago as a project for school, and we liked that so much that we continued to jam.
Your influences?
We love to use galloping rhythms and such like that of iron maiden or iced earth, but expect a lot of new little things that you will hear under the norm, such as gallops followed up by switching notes or a series a hammers and pulls. Also, expect a LOT of bone-crunching rhythms, as well as solos that dont really follow the rules of music theory.
Favorite spot?
Youngstown
Equipment used:
2 guitars, a bass, randall solidstate, behringer bass amp and guitar cabinet, cannon drums, and shure mics with behringer mixing consoles and radio shack PA system.
Anything else...?
We just added Denny Monroe as a our lead vocalist (w00t!) He's pretty awesome. You can here him on Hallowed Be Thy Name, and pretty soon on Lightning and Straitjacket.
