Why this name?
'Mido' has always been my nick name. And the 'B' comes from my last name... obvious.
Do you play live?
I can't wait to perform live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For someone like me, who is purely an unsigned Internet based artist, this technology IS MY MUSIC CAREER! Without the internet there wouldn't have been a Mido B in the first place. Also Lo-Fi mp3 streams help the music get to any individual in the world who has Internet access.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes.
Band History:
My name is Medhat Barsoum. I'm 20 and originally from Egypt, but currently studying in the UK. Having visited the German school in Egypt, I grew up speaking three languages fluently. I'm primairily an animator but music was something I always wanted to do. I started experimenting with music about six years ago. Nobody ever thought I had a musical talent, so I was never taken to music or voice classes or anything like that. In the early days, people thought I was crazy! They told me I'd never make it in music and that I should stick to cartooning! But now I truly believe that hard work and determination can get you almost wherever you want.
For six years and till this very second I had nothing but a PC to help me make my music. I would sit for hours in front of my computer trying to practice and brush up my voice by adding digital effects. I had to learn it the hard way... I soon found out that the computer effects will not get me where I want (it's all down to a GOOD voice and a clean recording!). I went mad over music software. Until I came across eJay. So me and my friend made up some beats and I tried to sing over them. The first attempts were shamefully bad. So I gave up for a few months and then in 2000 I decided to give it another shot and do it all by myself again.
I wrote and produced my debut single 'Shame' as a final experiment. This was to decide whether or not I was wasting six years of my life! The response I got from people was amazing and gave me a boost of confidence to carry on. PERFECTLY SOLO, I wrote, composed, produced, rapped, sang, recorded, edited and mixed the complete album in 2002 and uploaded it on mp3.com to see what 'the world' thinks! Well... I'm Number ONE locally at the moment. Things can only get better from here... I hope.
