Spirit of Grace is an acoustic/sometimes electric/sometimes folk/sometimes rock/sometimes traditional sounding band. We draw our energy from the Holy Spirit and ask God to guide us in the blessings he has given. We do what we do for his glory, not for ours. The Band consists of Bill Getz (Guitar, vocals), Cathy Getz (Vocals, light percussion), Brian Valentine (Guitar, vocals) and Barry Getz (Drums, percussion). Our music is original and we are inspiried and blessed by the Holy Spirit in creating it.
Why this name?
Spirit (for the Holy Spirit) of Grace (His Grace allows us to do what we do)
Do you play live?
We play live at various venues in our area but are constantly searching for new opportunities to be heard. We are also featured weekly on a local Christian Music show and had our own program called "The Road to Salvation" which also aired weekly on WAZL 1490 AM Hazleton. Most special moments are singing during a Mass, and at children's hospitals.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet, particulary MP3, has not changed the music industry in my opinion. It has made a broader range of artists available to anyone who loves music. I have purchased in the range of 50 CD's by being able to preview them on the internet. Before the internet, we would go to the local record store to preview music. (What's a record?)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the opportunity was offered and the circumstances right (God's time, not ours) yes!
Band History:
We started as a Folk Group at our local church and from there the rest is a mystery. Things have evolved and we weren't even trying. Another blessing....
Your influences?
We have been likened to Peter, Paul and Mary, Cadeamons Call, FFH & Fleetwood Mac, due to our vocal harmonies. Our music is a cross between folk and a hint of everything from celtic to the Beatles.
Favorite spot?
The beach or a quiet retreat. As for city, we really don't have too much travel time behind us.
Equipment used:
We use electric acoustic guitars, drums, harmonica, occasional keyboard, tambourine and assorted percussion. We of course have amplification for vocals.
Anything else...?
Expect the unexpected, we do not have any one way or style to anything we do or play. Sometimes there are 4 or more of us and other times there are only 3 it varies. The group itself is business first, I guess you could say we are all a little on the "shy" side until we get to know you. Ha! Ha!
