Remaining loyal to their influences, which range from Pink Floyd to Robert Johnson to Jimi Hendrix to U2 to Yes, and infusing their own original musical feel, the Tinsmen's music has a fresh new spin on a classic feel.
Why this name?
Have you ever seen the movie Spinal Tap?
Do you play live?
We have played at quite a few places in our band history, including the Roxy Theater, Rush's Book Swappe, Skateland, The Tiki House, and other places. We enjoy playing live more than almost anything and do as often as possible.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps to introduce people to new music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yep.
Band History:
With roots going back as early as late 2003, the Tinsmen have just recently gone public with their all original material. Hoping to begin recording their demo sometime very soon, the 5 band members of the Blues-based-Classic-Rock-influenced-with-hints-of-Jazz-and-Modern-Alternative-with-Progressive-and-Psychedelic-styles band are enthusiastic about the groups recent jump into the foray of the local music scene. With influences ranging from Pink Floyd to B.B. King to Interpol to Steely Dan, the music that the Tinsmen produce cannot be classified under one genre, but they are still able to make sounds that can be pleasing to 3 different generations of music listeners. The band looks to have a bright future, beginning at a young age as all the members are currently high-school aged students.
