Brant Satala, Singer/Songwriter.
Do you play live?
Play live acoustic shows primarily in Michigan.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet opens the door for ALL musicians to be heard, and with todays recording technology, major labels are not as important for getting a good recording. People have also become excellent marketers.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would sign a major label contract if I had a music attourney present, and all the ducks were in a row that suited me. However, I feel that today, artists can be there own labels, and do just fine.
Band History:
Brant Satala has been a singer/songwriter since age four. His first song was about his father's tools and fishing rod, and being forbidden to play with them. Brant has been playing live shows in bands, as part of a duo, and solo acoustically since he attended Western Michigan University where he obtained his B.A. in Creative Writing. His songs have had air play on several local radio stations including WLHT, 95.7fm.
What stands out about Brant's music is his ability to paint a vivid, heart-felt picture with clever word use, and intelligent orchestrations. He explores visionary, philosophic ideas and the quest for hope in everyday life, which resonate through rich chords and grooves; and stick in the mind. As the founder of Totemhawk Music, a production organization and independent label. He is working his way into the roll of Producer and Recording Engineer. His current CD is entitled Search and Rescue, available at Schuler Books and Music, 28th St., and Aris’ Disc Shop on the Beltline.
