NEWS   Currently working on something that Tony Hadley really should pick up on. "The Queen of in-between" has echoes of Spandau Ballet, but it has some wild double bass and lots more besides.

The only regular member is me (Len Morphew), the band being a vehicle for my songwriting, with over 20 varied titles produced so far. However, I do use members of the Bluesgrinders for regular support, especially Bob Tayor (drums), Andy Green (guitar) and Tom Lloyd (bass guitar). My daughter Liz does the female vocals, and my son Rob has recently been featured on double bass. I also draw on my wide circle of jazz musician friends.
Why this name?
Nobody ever spells Morphew correctly - but the initials were fairly unique.
Do you play live?
Yes, but not as LVM. I lead a jazz big band in the UK - the Mid West Big Band and play with Cirencester based blues band - The Bluesgrinders.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It is a great step forward and breaks the strangle hold that big business has had on the industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I doubt if I am sufficiently mainstream to interest them.
Band History:
I started writing material when I played with Sussex band the Xperts about 20 years ago.
We were into post punk - Police, XTC and similar.
Did a lot of MIDI based recording on my own in the 1990s, but got bored with the sterility of that particular medium. "The Net" was one of the more commercial tracks to emerge from that era. It had a good dance groove and some funky flute.
I now only record with real musicians.
